Their solid, well-balanced performance strongly conveys a deep admiration for classic 70s and 80s disco, soul, and funk, The long-awaited new release from The CJP Band, an up-and-coming modern disco-funk band that perfectly delivers a contemporary disco and funk groove—rooted in the spirit and musicality of Jamiroquai and influenced by house music! Their third 12-inch release has arrived.

On this album, a “Disco Not Disco”-style punkish disco and boogie-infused funk groove—featuring a spiritual, epic, and cosmic soundscape and strings—soars toward the heavens alongside powerful synths and saxophone solos, courtesy of Rotary Connection, Along with psychedelic, soulful vocals and harmonies reminiscent of Idris Muhammad and The 5th Dimension, the exquisite Side-A track “We Must Believe” (sample 1) carries a message of unity and transformation, Also great is the cover of Charles Earland’s 1976 jazz-funk classic “Let the Music Play”—a dancefloor disco-jazz-funk track brimming with a pleasant sense of momentum, featuring vocals by Hannah Williams (sample 2).
This is the third release from Supa Jams, a promising new underground label gaining attention in the UK. Like previous releases, this is a limited-edition, vinyl-only black 12-inch record with a hand-stamped sleeve. I highly recommend this one as well. It delivers superb sound quality at 45 RPM, with a solid, stable sound. (Original Japanese text by COMPUMA)
