The landmark debut single by the Finnish trio Mika Vainio, Ilpo Vaisanen, and Sam Salo—known as Panasonic (later Pan Sonic)—released in 1994 on the country’s cutting-edge music label Sähkö Recordings "Muuntaja / Murtaja" (released at the time as the "Panasonic EP") has finally been reissued on 12-inch vinyl (45 RPM) by the same label—21 years after its 2005 reissue and 32 years after the original release!!
Track List

Following the release of these tracks, the band was sued by the electronics manufacturer Panasonic—which shared their name—and was forced to change their name to Pan sonic. These are precious works from their “Panasonic” era that introduced the band and their musical style to the world—historic Chicago house tracks that and the Nordic European hard electronic-acoustic techno minimalism—a pinnacle that seems to echo the Detroit warehouse techno scene. Irregular beats, thick sounds, and resonant tones.
The masterpiece track “Murtaja” (sample 2)—a monumental landmark of techno/electronic sounds featuring a distorted kick drum from the TR-808 and ferocious hi-hats—is also breathtaking.
Each record is hand-stamped using the exact same stamp as the one used for the original release 32 years ago. It brings tears to my eyes. (Original Japanese text by COMPUMA)
