Sub Rosa - Cat No: SR589V
- updated:2026-10-16
This important early Coil release, originally issued in 1984 by L.A.Y.L.A.H. Antirecords under the provocative concept of “music for accumulating male sexual energy,” is being reissued for the first time! It includes a previously unreleased insert, and the B-side features an etched design in a special edition by Sub Rosa.
Track List

Coil—the core of the British occult/industrial scene, formed by former members of Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV—released this seminal album from their earliest days, billed as “ritual music” designed to accumulate male sexual energy, exploring magic, numerology, and the effects of sound on the body and consciousness. An aural ritual unfolding over approximately 17 minutes, featuring gongs, metallic percussive sounds, overlapping overtones, and sustained vibrations. A record that stands apart from entertainment, serving as a medium for accumulating and controlling desire and energy. It is recommended that “to draw out the maximum power, this record should be played only in the presence of men or in situations intended for masturbation.” While the original record’s B-side was titled “Absolute Elsewhere” but contained no sound (with several variations existing, such as those etched with noise), this reissue features an engraved etching. How you choose to handle it is up to the listener. (Original Japanese text by Adachi)
