The long-awaited solo work from Daniel Ögren — a guitarist who has contributed to records by Daniel Johnston and Sven Wunder, and a key figure in the Swedish music scene — is finally here.

He's also a member of the popular Swedish psychedelic quartet Dina Ögon, and has already left behind a wealth of wonderful soft-psych material, so we were excited from the moment this solo album was announced. It features the dreamlike folkloric dance numbers "Annalena" (sample_1) and "Kristinehamn by night" (sample_2) — already being talked about as the kind of thing Nicola Cruz might drop in a DJ set — plus "Idag," featuring vocalist Anna Ahnlund, the very person who inspired Daniel to start Dina Ögon; the blissful Balearic cuts "Maj (for Tintin)" and "Picasso"; the crystalline slide guitar of "Oktober (for Lo)" (sample_3), reminiscent of Steve Hiett; and the vinyl-only bonus track "April" closing things out. Highly recommended! (Original Japanese text by AYAM)
