MrBongo's enthusiasm can be seen in the fact that the cover is not the Cuban version, but the more rare Mexican version artwork by 〈Pentagrama Records〉. Although the band released only two albums and a 7-inch single, they were quite an influential group in Cuba in the 1970s. Produced by Raúl Gómez, one of the most important names in MR BONGO's Cuba series, and directed by Santiago Reyes and Ovidio Guerra, the album is orchestrated by Ricardo Eddy Martinez, who also released the highly popular "Expreso Ritmico" album in 1978. Miguel Ángel Rasalps of Los Van Van is said to have contributed to the composition, but details are unknown. From the shimmering opener "Grandes Amigos" to the trippy "Adeoey" and groovy "Un Lamento Hecho Cancion," this is a fusion of traditional Cuban son aesthetics, US funk influences, and psychedelic, cosmic fusion that works on the modern dance floor.
