Bardo's background spans California, Mexico, and Colombia. Drawing on a wide-ranging foundation that absorbs '70s and '80s R&B and classic rock along with cumbia, vallenato, and salsa, he conjures a distinctive, bewitching Latin-meets-LA psychedelic sound that's seriously addictive. On "Renacer" (sample 3), featuring the NY-based Combo Chimbita — a band beloved for their blend of Latin music, psychedelia, and Afro-Caribbean sounds — a disco duet with lead vocalist Linda "Lindi" Ortega gives off a singular mood that's at once seductive and comical. Elsewhere you'll find the slow disco of "Ámame" (sample 1), blood-pumping psych rock, and warm, neo-soul-leaning R&B — 12 tracks of a sound that feels familiar yet like nothing you've heard before.
