Weaving global music elements into a lush, deeply Italo-tinted sound, 'Ritmomento' clearly stakes out the duo's position as producers carrying the lineage of late-'80s Italo wave and the cosmic/tribal/Afro-inflected '90s Italian electronic scene into the present day. Alongside three originals, the EP features superb remixes/reinterpretations by London-based South African DJ/producer Esa and Amsterdam's Masalo, pushing the source material into new dimensions.
Opener "Luna Manga" sets the tone vividly with a muscular Italo synth bassline and a catchy vocal hook inspired by Mory Kante. "Echo Danza" follows with a mid-tempo, groovy rhythm and beguiling vocals, surfacing the diverse influences that defined late-'90s Italian electronic music through the duo's own lens. That feel carries into "Nakarap," where infectious synth stabs radiate a classic cosmic vibe, paying homage to the genre's rich roots.
