Following the release of *Tropical Dandy*—Haruomi Hosono’s second album, released in 1975, and the landmark first installment of his “Tropical Trilogy”—“Peking Duck” was released as his second single in 1976, and “Black Peanuts,” a lead track from his next album, *Tai’an Yanghang*, was included as the B-side. This important single from Panam/Crown has been reissued on 7-inch vinyl after 50 years—for the first time in half a century!!
Track List

I’m absolutely thrilled that this single features a version of Van Dyke Parks’ “Tropical New Orleans Chinatown Anthem” that differs from the album version—the A-side “Peking Duck” (sample 1) and the Caribbean-folk-inspired B-side “Black Peanuts” (sample 2) are both incredibly exciting and top-notch. A must-have 7-inch single featuring a pairing of key tracks that bridge “Tropical Dandy” and “Tai’an Trading Company.”
“HARRY HOSONO & TIN PAN ALLEY IN CHINA TOWN,” the legendary live recording of Haruomi Hosono’s Tin Pan Alley performed on May 8, 1976, at “Tong Fa Shin Kan,” a long-established Chinese restaurant in Yokohama’s Chinatown. The 7-inch singles “Silk Road” and “Peking Duck”—which were previously available for pre-sale at the pop-up event held to commemorate the LP release—are now on general sale!!! A joint release by KAKUBARHYTHM and medium.
