A new form of IDM that uses minimalist techniques and dub principles to make listeners aware of spatiality and emotion. BOT1500, the project by Japanese electronic musician SHINICHI KOBAYASHI—who has released works on Frontline’s 〈AD 93〉 offshoots 〈LITH DOLINA〉 and 〈ANALOGICAL FORCE〉—is releasing an album via 〈SHORT SPAN〉!

From 〈SHORT SPAN〉—which has been making a name for itself as a key player in the scene with a string of successful releases by artists like YU SU and CENTRAL—comes a new album by Japanese artist BOT1500! “On a dark, damp summer night, a small boat drifts aimlessly. This sea, where unease and beauty coexist, felt both like myself and like some distant place. (From the press release)”
Following his previous release on 〈LITH DOLINA〉, this album takes the introspective and emotional sound he has been pursuing through self-releases to its ultimate expression. With a solid structure, it presents a minimalism that is conscious of “ma” (space). The emotions stand out precisely because of the limited number of sounds, and the subtle echoes create nuanced tonal shades. A masterpiece of minimal electronics that pushes the boundaries of ambient and IDM. (Original Japanese text by Akie)
