MR BONGO's Cuban Classics series! This time it's a 1977 masterpiece presenting a unique fusion of Afro-Cuban sounds, library music/soundtrack influences, gorgeous orchestral disco and jazz-funk. A captivating instrumental album by Raúl Gómez.

Cuban composer and singer Raúl Gómez is known as a member of groups such as Mirtha Y Raul and Los Bucaneros, and also produced the classic Cuban salsa album 'Los Reyes 73.' On this record, released on Cuba's state label Areito, Raúl Gómez shines not only as an instrumentalist and writer but also as producer and arranger. Floating somewhere between mood music and library/soundtrack fare while adding a dose of Afro-Cuban magic, this is a one-of-a-kind Latin jazz masterpiece. "Un Paseo A La Playa" (sample_1), which echoes the orchestrated disco coming out of America around 1974-75 from the likes of the Love Unlimited Orchestra and MFSB, brings things to a dramatic close. A rich output of music born in post-revolution Cuba. First-ever vinyl reissue — don't miss it! (Original Japanese text by AYAM)
