The so-called “slow organic” scene has also taken on a new form since the pandemic ended, but Peter’s signature style—straight to the point and right down the middle—explodes with energy while still incorporating these new trends. Influenced by 2020s neo-hippieism, this work carries an eclectic sensibility—featuring meditative, conscious dance reminiscent of South American cacao ceremonies, paired with rhythms that, while pulsating, can generally be perceived as ambient. Of course, the Central and South American influences he picked up during his travels—such as Afro-Brazilian and dancehall—remain ever-present. He even plays the flute himself. But that unique, dark edge that’s all his own reminds me of the Voodoohop Collective. It’s fantastic. “We Are The Weather Feat. Lau (sample3)” features his partner, Lau (A MACACA).
