The Miyako folk song “Miyako Toyonen-uta (Toyonen no Ayagu),” widely sung as a representative harvest song, is a dance tune brimming with the joy of a bountiful harvest. The accompaniment by the Four Sisters—who were still children at the time—is charming. “Ase-mizu-bushi” is a masterpiece composed by Chōhō Miyara, known as the “father of Okinawan music.” (Original Japanese text by Izuru Utsumi)
