Issue No. 9 of SAUNTER Magazine, an independent magazine based on Yakushima. Special Feature: “The 25th Anniversary of the Passing of Sansei Yamao, the Poet Who Loved Yakushima: Hope Through Animism / Sacred Ecology.” Drawing on influences from the Beat Generation and counterculture, this issue offers in-depth coverage of the poet Sansei Yamao, who lived in communes and as a wanderer before settling on Yakushima. Interviews and articles are presented in both Japanese and English.
This version includes a CD album featuring six tracks composed by haruka nakamura exclusively for SAUNTER Magazine Issue 09, opening with a musical arrangement based on a 30-year-old audio recording of Sansei Yamao reciting his own poem “Light a Fire.” It is now available at Newtone as well. (Saito)

Issue No. 9 of *Sounter Magazine*, published in Yakushima, Japan, features a special section titled “The Poet Who Loved Yakushima: The 25th Anniversary of Sansei Yamao’s Passing—Hope Through Animism / Sacred Ecology.”
The entire issue is dedicated to Sansei Yamao. Immerse yourself in the world of this poet—who met Nanao Sakaki, Tetsuo Nagasawa, and others at Fugetsudo in Shinjuku and worked with them as a collective—and settle on Yakushima after journeys to India and elsewhere, while also sensing the lingering echoes of the counterculture, hippie movement, spiritualism, and psychedelia of the past.

Musician haruka nakamura has created original music inspired by Sansei Yamao, and this is the limited edition that includes the CD (the standard edition is available for streaming only). The CD features a total of 6 tracks totaling 57 minutes. The first track is a special piece in which haruka nakamura set music to a 30-year-old audio recording of Sansei Yamao himself reciting “Light a Fire.” The remaining tracks are ambient pieces, all original compositions written specifically for this release by haruka nakamura. Furthermore, aside from digital streaming, the CD included with this limited edition is the only physical recording available.
