If the Album "Jazz Fiction" explored imagination through sound, "Harmonic Drift" brings that imagination onto the dancefloor. More direct. More physical. Less narrative, more impact.
This is where abstraction turns into pressure - where the body understands before the mind can follow.
Deeply informed by the legacy of Detroit - from the raw machine funk of Theo Parrish or Marcellus Pitman to the emotional depth of Motown - the album reimagines soul as texture, groove as architecture, and distortion as expression. Not a revival, but a translation: Motown for 2026.
Where jazz once shaped the language, it now exists as a trace - abstract, submerged, almost invisible. What remains is its essence: timing, swing, tension. The rest is stripped down to minimal structures, heavy low-end, saturated edges, and a sound system designed to move bodies in real space.
The opening, Temporary Realities, establishes the principle: nothing is fixed. Rhythms emerge, collapse, and reform - functional, yet unstable.
With Imagined Space, the room itself becomes part of the composition. Delays stretch, distortion breathes, and depth is not simulated but felt physically.
Living Continuum locks into motion - a driving state where repetition becomes propulsion, not stasis. The groove is alive, shifting under pressure.
In Boundless Harmony, fragments of warmth surface - echoes of soul, barely visible, dissolving into a dense, tactile framework.
Beyond Structure intensifies the system. Distortion thickens, textures blur, and identity becomes fluid. What is heard is less important than what is experienced.
Beyond Structure explores control and release. Minimal structures hold the tension, while the sound itself pushes against its own limits.
Finally, Fictional States breaks the frame. The system remains, but its edges dissolve - leaving pure energy, raw and unresolved.
Harmonic Drift is built for the club, but it resists simplicity. It is precise yet unstable, heavy yet fluid, direct yet layered with memory. The influence of Detroit is not aesthetic - it is structural. The spirit of Motown is not quoted - it is transformed into pulse, weight, and movement.
A sound shaped by history and redefined is always in motion.
This is not nostalgia.
This is continuation - of reality in a harmonic drift.
