"Window Areas is music as interpolation, reveling in the new possibilities that sprout between known quantities."
Niikkolahs is Tokyo-based artist and multi-instrumentalist with two previous releases on the Diskotopia label, both of which garnered radio support on ROVR, Reform Radio and RTE with online write-ups at The Slow Music Movement and Ban Ban Ton Ton. Niikkolahs has developed a rich sound which has been described as "polyrhythmic percussion, dub-indebted basslines, outer-dimension sonics, naturalist funk, tangible and etheric sound creation, missives into consciousness, altered states and latent Earth energies."
On Window Areas, NIIKKOLAHS pushes even further abroad with refined execution to deliver a vibrant, compelling entry in the sphere of 4th-world/fusion with dub-centric production methodology with six percussive-laden, free-jazz adjacent and post-punk informed pieces. Thematically, Window Areas follows ancient cultures practices of forming contact with the Otherworld and the concept of liminal spaces where life meets death.
Indefinite Boundary is a newly launched Tokyo-based imprint run by Brian Durr, one half of the multi-genre Diskotopia label. As with Diskotopia, the aim of Indefinite Boundary is to focus on the liminal, between-world strains of music that tends to defy classification and embrace disparate influences. Expect fusions of dub, ritualistic percussion, spiritual jazz, African Highlife, Def Jux-era beat tapes, noise, spoken-word and noetic electronics.
