Recorded in the early 1970s but left dormant in the archives for decades, Afro Beat and Afro Flower first surfaced in 2018, when Four Flies released them on a now sought-after 7-inch, alongside a digital edition.
Today, the label returns to those recordings with a four-track digital EP that pairs the two original cuts with two previously unreleased rhythm-only versions, finally completing the picture.
Written by Giuliano Sorgini and Alessandro Alessandroni, these recordings are believed to originate from the same undocumented sessions that also produced Under Pompelmo and Pawnshop's debut 7-inch. Stripped down to their rhythmic core, the two unreleased alternate mixes bring layered percussion, hypnotic grooves and afro-inspired patterns into sharp focus, revealing the duo at their most psychedelic and rhythmically adventurous.
Preserved in the vaults for more than fifty years, these long-lost versions finally make their debut, offering DJs, collectors and adventurous listeners a deeper glimpse into one of the most inspired collaborations in Italian library music.
Four tracks from the same creative moment: two cult classics and two long-hidden companions, finally reunited.
