After brimming dancefloors in NYC, sunset sessions in Ibiza and an appearance on Paula Tape's Astral Jam radio show, it feels like the right time to gather together the ensemble for a round of remixes. Introducing our ode to Simplemente Cachonda, the brilliant debut from Residentes Balearicos on Balearic Ensemble. First up is Gallo, the man behind Berlin's long-running balearic clubnight, Buena Onda: His rework of Cachonda shuffles along a half-lit beachfront on the precipice between night and day, a low-slung beat carried through by an orchestra of warblers and songbirds soaking up the last rays of sunlight. A breezy, piano-led ode to life in the slow lane. Residentes Balearicos bring us another golden trip with their ambient mix of Cachonda, silencing the drums and cymbals for a lazy excursion down the magic river. It's a fairytale land with chimes and bells sounding out from the riverbanks, and another deep, magical production from the Ibicenco duo. Rounding it out is seven and a half minutes of late-nite, acid-led vibrations firmly in the Ibiza spirit courtesy of LuVa, the production duo comprised of Lukkas and label founder Da Silva. It's a wobbling, hair-raising excursion through the throes of squelching 303s and euphoric piano riffing that we can't wait to hear dropped at warehouses and festivals over the summer. Big tip!
