For their first release of 2019, London underground imprint Inside Out Records welcomes the mysterious Quetz:al to their family. The label, as per usual, stays true to its values of supporting new talent, musical innovation and constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible with sound.
Born in Mexico and currently residing in London, Quetz:al is a classically trained musician and an experienced sound designer. In his piece "Timbal" the producer demonstrates how much you can do using only very little. Employing just a very short sample which he extracted from a documentary, Quetz:al employs a variety of creative production techniques to sculpt all the sounds evident in his composition.
In his own words "Using only one 2-bar loop, the track created itself as I mangled, maimed and destroyed the original audio. Techniques that were used were transposition, heavy EQ use, audio stretching, over-compression, re-sampling, exaggerated use of delays."
