In anticipation of warmer and brighter days, Ogris Debris have asked friends, collaborators and musical companions to polish up their last two singles for the imminent arrival of spring: "One Brighter Day" is a shiny and colorful collection of remixes, taking you on a magic carpet ride through the extended OD universe.
Right at the start, theres Fono from Manchester working his sparkling remix magic on "One Day", and the result, its safe to say, is nothing short of a masterpiece: the originals catchy vocals are repitched and set against a shimmering fabric of broken beats, detuned chords - and synth stabs so powerful they will knock you right off your feet.
Up next is Monophobes take on "Brighter", a brilliant persiflage of bigroom EDM sounds. As it is often the case with Monophobe's music, the sheer production level and unpredictable musical ingenuity leaves you wondering 1. if someone actually travelled back in time to bring to us the music from the future and 2. what the heck is actually going on?
Back from the future, the journey continues with a very analogue and old-school sounding exquisite dub jam by Sam Irl & Feater, who take the very same song all the way to outter space, complete with subtle little melodies here and there, a bassline that is as sturdy as it is funky and a lot of spacey delays ays ays of course ourse ourse.
The final destination is dark, hot and sweaty: Brussels Haring gives "Brighter" the full techno treatment, turning it into a fast-paced, pulsating club tune, experimenting with stark contrasts between blazingly bright breaks of ethereal beatuy followed by percussive parts driven by sizzling energy.
Thanks for flying OD, we hope you enjoyed the ride!
