Tokyo-based producer Initial Talk is known for creating songs that are easy on the ears and lets you relive the 80's within the blink of an eye.
Frankfurt-born vocalist Deena O on the other hand has been known for her smooth warm voice which has been featured prominently in a few music-projects.
Putting those two remarkable artists together has been only a natural move for label-owner Kris Santiago in the end and the two clicked immediately when it came down to creating a long-lasting piece of music history.
'I'm In Love' is their first offering on NDYD Records, bringing us those 80's new jack swing vibes very reminiscent of Bobby Brown's 'Every Little Step'.
"I wanted to create a track with a r&b vibe, but implement an 80's groove suitable for my audience and equally the dance floor. I played around with so many different sounds, and different rhythms and slowly pieced everything together until it sounded right and felt right. I had to make sure that I had an emotional connection to it, but that it also made me move and shake," Initial Talk said.
The track succeeds due to its catchy vocals that recount a time where a simple but strong statement to love had an everlasting effect in a relationship.
"Whether you've been in a relationship for a short or long period of time, you will always have moments where you want to tell your partner how much you are in love with him," Deena said. " I think I found the right way to express that unbelievable feeling, I guess", Deena recaptures the period when she wrote the lyrics and recorded them.
Deena O's passion for music was evoked by her Nigerian father, who used to listen to funk, soul , afrobeat and of course traditional Nigerian music & highlife. He used to fill the neighborhood with overwhelming joy when playing his favorite tunes loud during the quiet hours of the German equivalent for siesta. Probably this rebellious behavior influenced Deena O to listen and feel music differently, and which gives 'I'm In Love' a unique touch.
Since 2015, Initial Talk's old-school mash-ups and remixes on streaming portals are being featured in some of the most popular music webzines such as Billboard.com, ThisisRnB.com and have been shared by prominent artists such as Paula Abdul, MNEK and Vanessa White.
