The third edition of Nonclassical's annual series of EPs 'Outside the Lines' brings together work by our four Associate Composers for 2019–20, alongside the winner of Nonclassical's Battle of the Bands, Reylon.
Our Associate Composers Scheme provides artists with the opportunity to showcase their music through Nonclassical events and releases, as well as further their professional development through workshops and mentoring. These four composers display distinct artistic voices – from the electroacoustic textures of Dan Samsa, to the performance art-adjacent work of Lola de la Mata; from the microtonal explorations of Yfat Soul Zisso, to the culture-melding compositions from Blasio Kavuma. The EP also features a new piece by acclaimed British composer Alex Ho – 'Rituals and Resonances', for yangqin, a meditation on the Chinese diasporic experience.
