A year on from Profusion’s debut album ‘Where Do I Begin?’, First Word presents a trio of brand new remixes from a trio of exceptional upcoming producers. Following on from K15 & Emeson’s recent live project, ‘Profusion 2.0’, this border-crossing set of tracks spreads the duo’s multi-genre sonic palette even further.
For the remix of ‘Where Do I Begin?’, we head over to Vancouver for some funk-tinged, synth-boogie boom-bap courtesy of AstroLogical - much like the swagger of the original, this flip has a serious bounce throughout. Next, we return to the capital with an incredible version of ‘Times Up’ from Romaal Kultan (Touching Bass). The groove on this one evolves into a beautiful hybrid of wavy synths, future jazz and minimal bruk - really innovative blend of organic and electronic styles on this one. Closing out the space-funk vein on this triple-tracker, we turn to EVM128 (Selectors Assemble / CoOp Presents) for a deliciously deep broken beat rub of ‘Golden’. This classy refix has a little UK funky feel to it, laced with lush keys and strings throughout. There's warm summery vibes ingrained into this trio of tracks - Profusion once again providing music of the time, music of the soul.
