Helsinki's We Jazz Records launches a new series of live recordings, the "We Jazz Live Plates", offering a closer look into the label's live activities. The first installment of the series is "Berlin 27.10.17", a recording from captured at Berlin's club Monarch in October 2017, featuring three acts from the label's release roster. The eight-tracker features Black Motor, Bowman Trio and Jaska Lukkarinen Trio offering two potent slices of raw live jazz each. All of the compositions herein are previously unreleased or new arrangements.
The first taste from the album is "The Hillary Step" from Bowman Trio, a young group which won over the German audience with their debut LP released in late 2016 (WJLP01). The group of trumpeter Tomi Nikku, bassist Joonas Tuuri and drummer Sami Nummela perform Nikku's composition with a solid sense of swing and great intensity. The full album "Berlin 27.10.17" (WJLP09) will be released on 28 September on vinyl, CD and digitally.
