Kristin Velvet returns to her home label Arms & Legs with a new two-tracker that taps into old-school energy with a new school twist.

2023 is proving a standout year for Berlin-based Aussie. She has already served up a big EP for Josh Wink's legendary Ovum Recordings, toured Australia and continues to hold it down with her residency at Watergate. All this comes on top of a decade of big tunes with Felix Da Housecat, outings on Cassy's Kwench and support from the scene's key tastemakers. Her maximal mix of party-starting but stylish sounds brings plenty of emotion from across the house and techno spectrum. She is just as varied and vital in the studio as proven by this new EP on the label she heads up alongside Daniel Steinberg.

The superb 'Set Me Free' rides on a dirty bassline with colourful cosmic melodies up top. The 80s-tinged drum sounds are stripped back and infectious as the throwback vocal sample provides a huge emotional release. It's unashamedly joyous and emotive as it explodes out of the mix. With the smart fills, filters, effects and big chords, it's a potent track that is sure to get the floor in a sweat and fists pumping. Kristin shows another side on the flip with 'Bongati', a tribal heads-down dancer peppered with endless toms. They bring humid summer energy as the chunky drum funk locks you in down low. It's a backroom bubbler to lock in the crowd and power them on to the next level.
