Straight from the Italian cosmic era, these tracks were recorded by composer Enzo Minuti, aka Ezy Minus, between the ‘70s and early ‘80 at his workshop/studio in Bologna, Studio 67. Minuti relied on very few collaborators and used minimal equipment, but made the most of techniques such as overdubbing and experimented freely with then-futuristic synths and drum machines. As a result, these productions combine a jazz-funk approach with lo-fi creativity and influences ranging from afro-tribal to dub, reggae and electronic music, all the while conveying a weird/leftfield vibe that makes them original and modern but still very groovy (the irresistible “Milano ‘73”, for example, is a never-heard-before mixture between acid-jazz, electro-samba and cosmic funk). All previously unreleased except for the first two titles (which Four Flies reissued on 7” in June 2022), these 10 tracks are like a rainbow bringing together all the colours of cosmic music: from afro-dub ("Black Lights") and tropical funk ("Green Monkey") to cinematic disco ("Contraband Love"), and from acoustic/psychedelic space-pop ("Gang Leader") to the surreal afro-synth-space-funk of a little masterpiece of oddity like “Afro Galaxy Sound”. A must-have for all lovers of rare and unusual Italian music!
