Artist:
The Uriel moniker is apseudonym of Scott E. Hodgson, electronic composer and co-founder of Beau Monde recordsand was originally used to pioneer the Future Jazz sound. Inspired by Detroit techno’s originators statements of jazz as inspiration, Scott sought to create an even more obvious electronic homage to the genres of Sci-fi Jazz and the machine funk of Parliament. The Uriel style evolved as retro blaxploitation soundtracks and easy listening from the late 60’s and early 70’s came into vogue, by creating original pieces inspired by this era, but always with a modern twist that set them apart. Latin beats and disco soon joined the Uriel style, alongside Scott’s love of Miles Davis’ and Herbie Hancock’s electric fusion period, to complete the picture.
