Cobblestone Jazz - "Generations"
In between legs of their European tour last year, Cobblestone Jazz spent five days at Freedom Engine Studios in Berlin - marking their final session there before the studio's relocation to Lisbon.
The result is a powerful three-track EP, led by "Generations", a long-form, emotionally charged journey that showcases the expressive depth of the PPG Wave synthesizer. It's a signature piece that captures the group's improvisational chemistry and sonic range.
On the B-side, "The Whipper" offers a bold contrast. Conceived as an experiment in extreme sound design, every element of the track was processed with heavy intent using Alessia Nvelope and Karacter 500-series modules - pushing Cobblestone Jazz into more aggressive and club-ready territory than ever before. Already road-tested for months in Mathew Jonson's solo live sets, it's a proven dance-floor weapon.
Rounding out the EP is "Generations (Version)" - a concise rework of the title track with added percussion, crafted as a high-energy tool for DJs looking to elevate the original's intensity in a club setting. Lifted from an alternate studio mix, it's a functional yet expressive companion to the main mix.
Out July 10th on ITISWHATITIS Recordings, with global distribution via Word and Sound, and cover art by the label's resident artist Ross Peasant.
