The title comes from a line in Joan Didion's novel Democracy, which became the basis of the song. Everyone hates Joan Didion right now but that doesnt' matter to me because I love her sentences. I also love baroque pop in the Brigitte Fontain/John Cale/Teho Teardo mold. The warm horns that enter midway through make me feel like I'm taking a magic carpet ride.
