Bath Time is a suite of heartbreaking cinematic sweet soul ballads, with lyrics of love and family springing from Hudson's until now little heard golden voice, atop the heavy drums and vivid arrangements that are now anything but little heard from the man that has contributed in some way to every single College Of Knowledge release.
Stylistically, lines can be drawn to the 1960s sweet soul ballads of The Delfonics, Jean-Claude Vannier's vivid arrangements for Serge Gainsbourg, and, of course, the unmistakable flavour of Melbourne's cinematic soul movement. The rest of the sauce comes from Hudson's singularly indefatigable musicality and creativity.
