Chashitsu: Auditory Tea Room is the first album release to feature Midori Komachi’s work as a composer.
Inspired by the sonic journey of Chashitsu (Japanese Tea Room) and Chado (The Way of Tea), this album showcases Komachi's weaving together original compositions with field recordings by Nick Luscombe (MSCTY).
Conceived and produced by Komachi in collaboration with London and Tokyo based MSCTY, known for their work at the forefront of
music and architecture, the project reflects her unique approach to sound, place, and narrative, offering listeners a unique auditory experience.
Album Launch Night:
Catch Chashitsu Live at the Royal Albert Hall's Elgar Room, London at 8pm on Tuesday 14th October. Nick Luscombe will also be on hand to deliver a DJ set of Japanese ambient music to accompany green tea servings!
