KILLER Powell spin-off 8-tracker featuring some of his most rhythmically satisfying work since the early 12s on Diagonal, Mute and Death of Rave.
Powell expands the remit of WE DO RECOVER from a beautiful double LP to an evolving ecosystem of inter-related moving parts via this spin-off 25 minute collection WDR-EP1. The 25-minute 8-track collection offers up alternate works related to or inspired by We Do Recover—his recent full-length. “For me, WDR was a period of time in my artistic life more than it is a single release so this is a chance to invite people a little deeper into the world I was making for myself at the time and excavate stuff that remains in its orbit.” Some tracks are directly related to the album material, with goblin-mode-i transposing the shimmering riff Surrender into the kind of aberrant acidic workout that is uniquely Powell. There is even time for a detour via Detroit—with strings soaring over the machine funk of First Dance.
