Cylob is an electronic music producer from the UK. Active since 1993, since then he has racked up releases on the labels Rephlex, Breakin' Records, Power Vacuum and his own Cylob Industries imprint. Although Cylob's music is predominantly instrumental, ranging from ambient styles to aggressive dance-floor sonics via pop pastiche and electronic funk, his most well known tracks have been the underground hits "Rewind" and "Cut The Midrange, Drop The Bass", which pioneered computer-generated rapping and singing on top of signature Cylob beats. His remix credits include reworkings for Mogwai, Aphex Twin, Soulwax (2 many DJs), Cristian Vogel and Mike Flowers Pops.
The label Cylob Industries was set up in 2007. As well as releasing new and previously unreleased material, including under the alter-egos Ambient News and nonprivate, the label has reissued most of Cylob’s Rephlex output.
“A Quiet Life” is the first Cylob single since “Pepper Spray” 16 years ago. It is taken from the album “In Dystopia”. Like most of the other tracks on that album, it features a vocoder. The “quick mix” is a reworked edit of the album version. The “band swap mix” is the same song rendered with rather more aggresive sounds. The “band replay mix” on the other hand submerges the listener in a relaxing bath of electronic singing.
Hi Chat GPT, I am trying to write a press release for a new single called "A Quiet Life". Write 50 words on the topic of how we might ponder this concept. Every person has their own idea of what a quiet life might be, and even if such a thing might be desirable. Try to weave in some compelling reason for an uninitiated listener to want to check out the single.
What does a quiet life really mean? For some, it’s solitude and stillness; for others, it’s simply freedom from noise, expectation, and endless motion. We each carry a different version of peace. “A Quiet Life” invites listeners to question that ideal — and discover how fragile, elusive, and beautiful it can be.
