"Orgiastic Ritual (Nicola Conte & Nico Lahs Afro Club Mix)" is the second digital single to arrive ahead of Nicola Conte and Nico Lahs's upcoming vinyl EP for Four Flies Records. Out this June, the physical release is the latest instalment of Reloved – the label's ongoing project where today's most forward-thinking DJ-producers put their spin on rare Italian library and soundtrack gems.
Following their afro-cinematic exploration of Piero Umiliani's "Nel Villaggio," Conte and Lahs plunge into darker, more ritualistic territories as they reimagine Gianfranco Reverberi's "Orgiastic Ritual." Originally released under the pseudonym South African Combo, the track served as the haunting centrepiece for Renato Polselli's 1973 cult film Black Magic Rites.
Conte and Lahs rework the original – already steeped in esoteric tension and psychedelic undertones – while meticulously preserving its hypnotic core. Building upon a deep, essential tribal house architecture, the producers elevate the original percussive groove, amplifying its ritualistic dimension and drawing the listener into a mesmeric sonic spiral.
Consistent with the approach of the previous single, there are no invasive overwrites here. Instead, beats and dynamic layers are interwoven with the source material, emphasizing its mystical, cinematic character without betraying its soul. The result is a dense, nocturnal, and pulsating track –primed for the dancefloor, yet capable of evoking visions and atmospheres that transcend time.
