“Spyro Theme” is the second single from Downtempo 1, the debut release from Tony Soprano Band - a Melbourne-based instrumental project led by Daniel Rock (Evening News), in collaboration with Patrick Ryan (Cantrips / Dune Castle).
Sitting at the intersection of downtempo electronica, breaks and live band performance, the track was improvised and recorded live in a single day at Dune Castle’s in-house studio, The Throne Room. Featuring Daniel Rock (bass), Lucky Pereira (drums), Robert Downey (sampler / drum machine), and Winton Findlay (synthesizers), all material was performed in real time and later edited and mixed into its final form.
Where lead single “Brainstorming” established the project’s beat-driven foundation, “Spyro Theme” leans further into rhythm and forward motion - driven by pulsing electronic elements and a more defined groove framework.
Blending live rhythm section interplay with loop-based structures, the track highlights the project’s ability to move between atmosphere and propulsion.

Tony Soprano Band operates as a rotating cast of musicians within the Dune Castle studio environment, with Downtempo 1 marking the first instalment in an ongoing series.
