MidnightRoba is the solo project of vocalist, songwriter and producer Roba El-Essawy. The voice of Attica Blues (Mo Wax 1997, Sony 2000), Roba has collaborated and performed with artists including Andre3000, Carlos Niño, Saul Williams, King Britt, Jason Moran and Surya Botofasina. MidnightRoba released her second solo, self-produced album, ‘Raise A Symphony’, on her independent label Sonder Records at the end of 2025, an electronic offering marking a challenging time. The album title takes it’s name from Martin Luther King’s ‘I Have A Dream’ speech where King calls for the nation to rise to gather together and form a ‘beautiful symphony of brotherhood’.

In the EP ‘Raise A Symphony, Remixed’, MidnightRoba has called upon friends and collaborators to offer their own interpretations of selected tracks.

‘Joy’, remixed by Philadelphia-born King Britt, is about the need to search for joy in times of trouble.

A producer, composer, performer, and Full Teaching Professor of Computer Music at the University of California San Diego, King Britt has collaborated with De La Soul, Madlib, Kathy Sledge, and directors Michael Mann and Khalil Joseph, with remix commissions for Miles Davis, James Brown, Solange, and Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa. He has released several studio projects, including the Moksha Black series, the legendary Sylk 130 project and most recently a project with MacArthur Fellow and Pulitzer Prize winner Tyshawn Sorey. King was the original DJ for the Grammy-winning Digable Planets, and is the creator of Blacktronika: Afrofuturism in Electronic Music, a course and festival that centres innovators of colour often omitted from electronic music histories, with guests including Herbie Hancock, Questlove, and Patrice Rushen, while extending the groundwork of UK's Charlie Dark's (Attica Blues) original Blacktronika events from '99 - 2005.

Giving Thanks, a song written in gratitude of those on the frontlines of protest and activism, those dedicated to actioning change, sometimes at great personal loss, is remixed by 2000BLACK.

2000BLACK create genre-defying music from the African diaspora. Producing and performing any genre of music rooted in funk, soul, jazz, hip hop and pushing its boundaries to form contemporary innovations.

Axis, featuring the voice of actor/poet/film-maker Saul Williams, is about compromised, corrupt politicians of the west and their false narrative of the SWANA region as being the axis of evil, whilst honouring the love and grief of Khalid, the grandfather of Reem, ‘Soul of my Soul’, killed in Gaza with thousands of innocent children.

Axis is remixed by long-time collaborator, Tony Nwachukwu.

Tony Nwachukwu is a producer, creative mix engineer, remixer and member of the pioneering UK group Attica Blues, whose recent credits include mixing albums by Shy One, MidnightRoba (also of Attica Blues), and contributing production and remix work to Touching Bass' Soon Come compilation. Archive production and remix credits including Courtney Pine, The Cinematic Orchestra, Jazzanova, Duran Duran and U.N.K.L.E.

Alongside his studio practice, Tony is the founder and CEO of CREATE DEFINE RELEASE (CDR), the internationally recognised, community-first organisation supporting the journeys of music producers and artists such as Sampha, Floating Points, Maya Jane Coles.and SBTRKT.

Following a renowned career with Attica Blues and under aliases including The Wach and NEPA Allstars, Tony is now preparing to release Habitus, his highly anticipated debut solo album.

Peace. Love. Life. is the first foray into remixing by musician Surya Botofasina. Surya’s music is deeply connected to his upbringing amongst the devotional music and teachings at Swamini Turiyasangitananda Alice Coltrane's Sai Anantam Ashram in California.

Surya Botofasina’s harmonic and expressive collaborators include André 3000 New Blue Sun, Saul Williams, Radha Botofasina, Carlos Niño, Nate Mercereau, Lakecia Benjamin, Joey Bada$$, Statik Selektah, Meghan Stabile, and MidnightRoba. Botofasina has released two albums - Everyone’s Children (‘22) and Ashram Sun (‘24), both on SpiritMuse Records, as well as album Subtle Movements with long time collaborators Carlos Niño and Nate Mercereau, with whom he was nominated for 3 Grammy awards in 2015, including Album of the Year, for 'New Blue Sun'.
