Kristin Velvet takes a step away from the hip-house bangers that have defined much of her recent output, revealing a more elegant and nuanced side of her sound on The Traveller / Joy.

On the A-side, "The Traveller" lives up to its name. Brass stabs, flashes of piano and a driving organ line unfold over a warm, propulsive groove. Rich in musical detail, it's a mesmerising modern house instrumental.

On the flip, "Joy" channels a deeper, gospel-infused feeling into a contemporary house framework. Soulful chords and an insistent groove give the track its lift, balancing machine funk with warmth and emotion.

Together, the two tracks reveal another dimension to Kristin Velvet's production: sophisticated, soulful and deeply connected to house music's roots.
