Savina’s Western is a selection of western film scores composed by Carlo Savina and originally released by Minstrel in the late 1970s on his BAM imprint. Bringing together music from several of Savina’s contributions to the genre, including E Dio disse a Caino, La Colt è la mia legge and Pochi Dollari per Django, and featuring the warm and magnetic voice of Don Powell on three tracks, the album offers a vivid snapshot of Savina’s distinctive approach to the sound of the Italian western, moving between orchestral themes, dusty atmospheres and unmistakable cinematic tension.
Long unavailable, Savina’s Western is now being reissued digitally for the first time, bringing this lesser-known chapter of Carlo Savina’s film music back into circulation.
