“…pretty wild… with aspects of surrealism… a strange sort of pathos… a kind of absurdity… a kind of muted spectacularism…” — Neil Luck
Nonclassical presents the latest instalment of the Outside the Lines-compilation series, co-curated with artist and composer Neil Luck, out on limited edition cassette and digital on 23rd October.
Outside the Lines Vol. 8 brings together a seemingly disparate group of UK-based artists working in the gaps between composition, spoken word, performance art and electronic collage. Slippery, surreal and difficult to categorise, the compilation captures a corner of the UK experimental music scene that resists easy definition.
From the abstract soundscapes of Joanna & Laurie Ward to the word-and-violin attack of Mayah Kadish & Tim Cape, the hushed tones of Angela Wai Nok Hui to the metal assault of Search Engine Quartet, these 10 tracks shine a light on something that seems to be in the air at the moment: an uncategorisable newness.

Featuring THE NARRATOR, Neil Luck, Alan Fielden, Angela Wai Nok Hui, Mayah Kadish & Tim Cape, Max Syedtollan, Joanna & Laurie Ward, Cell Deletion, Tim Parkinson and Search Engine Quartet.
