Red Crayola: Mayo Thompson’s only solo album from 1969! With vocals taking center stage, it’s a wonderful sound that exudes personal charm. A one-of-a-kind world of white psychedelia rooted in blues and ragtime. The sense of dance is also superb. Originally released in 1969 on *Texas Revolution Records* and reissued in 1988 by the UK label *Grass*—home to bands like Spacemen 3 and The Pastels—this masterpiece is now available from *Drag City*. This vinyl pressing includes a bonus 7-inch featuring “Woof,” an instrumental session that remained unreleased until 2004, as well as John Cage’s “4’33”,” commissioned by Sergei and Mayo Thompson and performed by Mcugly.
