From the 〈PACIFIC RHYTHM〉 label—which has previously featured artists such as D. TIFFANY, FLØRIST, and EX-TERRESTRIAL—comes the solo debut from ACTIVE SURPLUS, the project by EVAN VINCENT (AKA EMISSIVE) and IAN SYRETT! In addition to the lo-fi acid house track “Yaye” (sample 1), which incorporates elements of ethnic tribal music, the album features “Ambrosia” (sample 3)—where mechanical breakbeats race through modulated synth ambience—and “One Beyond” (sample 2). Even “Meera”—which we regretfully had to leave out of the preview (but you can listen to it on the tracklist)—features mesmerizing, wavering dubby high-end sounds. As expected from a talent discovered by 〈PACIFIC RHYTHM〉, these four tracks are flawless! I can wholeheartedly recommend this release. (Original Japanese text by Akie)
