Jazz music from Spain-based new age/ambient specialist BALMAT, which has attracted attention with each release, including appearances by µ-ZIQ and MINOR SCIENCE! The Brooklyn-based keyboardist/producer SHY LAYERS and JEFF CROMPTON have teamed up to launch this hot tag-team release. The title track, "Blue Voices" (sample 1), is a warm, rhythmic acoustic guitar and saxophone that is a nod to etio-jazz. A folky and pleasant jazz session that is at odds with the complexity of the songwriting, which mobilizes a wide variety of instruments from modular to electric piano, clarinet, and guitar.
