A STONES TARO & JOHNNY CAGE remix! The landmark first release from 〈RUMINANT RECORDS〉, founded in Chicago to delve into the US rave sound! A reissue bundle featuring the hidden gems “Hypnotize” and “All A Dream” (1998) by the late DJ DIC, who explored the soundscape at the intersection of breaks and machine funk. Featuring drums with just the right weight and a light, swinging feel, combined with highly addictive psychedelic high-end sounds and a uniquely romantic, intoxicating vibe, this is a one-of-a-kind US breaks masterpiece. A rare find.
Track List
DJ DIC—also known as JAY TOUCHET, who passed away in 2004—is being reissued with new remixes of each of the two works he released on the North Carolina label 〈HOODWINK RECORDS〉! "All A Dream" (sample 1), with its alluring, sweetly whispered humming, is a masterpiece featuring heavy yet bouncy funky breaks and addictive acid phrases. The remix—a modern rave interpretation driven by Kyoto-based Japanese artist STONES TARO (NC4K)—is masterfully executed, preserving the original track’s unique sense of euphoria. The B-side offers a complete contrast with the trance-like “Hypnotize” (sample 2), a gripping rave track that weaves acid elements into finely chopped breaks. Both originals are rare finds—don’t miss this opportunity! (Original Japanese text by Akie)
