Her use of a choir with MORITZ VON OSWALD was surprising, and here too the opening piece "Passage Through the Spheres" is written for a French contemporary vocal/choral ensemble. The organ pieces are performed by Kali Malone herself and Stephen O'Malley, while the brass pieces are performed by Anima Brass. Tracing scales, the music offers the resonance of specially tuned tones and the dissonant, minimal sound of sine waves. The label states that this is "not music for praise or spiritual revelation," introducing it as follows: "This music carries the gravity and preoccupation with infinity of liturgical chant, yet draws its weight from the earthly realm of human experience. It is music that pulls the listener into the present moment, letting them find themselves within woven patterns that resemble the passing of days, weeks, years, and lifetimes." Gatefold sleeve 2LP, with an 8-page booklet and download code enclosed. (Original Japanese text by Saito)
