Quietly first released in November 1999 in the wake of Funkstörung?s own debut album and a string of high-profile remixes, Marion quickly became something of a cult game-changer in terms of Electronic Music Production as Funkstörung?s signature production sound was dissected and Michael?s razor sharp approach to glitch, bass and dense rhythm and melody was laid bare for the first time, minus the pop and hip-hop influences Funkstörung?s other-half (Chris De Luca) would ordinarily contribute.
Marion?s stark, intense production and arrangements were balanced to beautiful effect with masterfully woven melody and atmosphere, making for a compelling, highly influential and truly cult classic release that still sounds like nothing else even now, 20 years on.
