Marking one year since the release of musical polymath James Alexander Bright's stunning album 'Cool Cool', the title track gets a fresh, mellower mix to contend with this summer's record-breaking heatwave. Turn up the hi-fi, grab a pina colada, get comfortably reclined on a cabana, and slip into sunshine bliss.
This fresh mix is more in line with the original demo version submitted by James to Athens of the North: sans-drums, minimal instrumentation, the warmest of bass playing, and James' delightfully delivered falsetto vocal harmony.
The original version of 'Cool Cool' was played across shows on BBC 6 Music (with support from key DJ like Deb Grant, Craig Charles, Gilles Peterson, Huey Morgan, Tom Ravenscroft), NTS, KEXP, Worldwide FM (where James performed the song live), and has been a continual smash across tastemaker LA station KCRW.
Balanced alongside the creative duality of a career in illustration and design; James's evolving musical vision has touched on everything from machine funk to mystic folk, art-rock to experimental jazz before finding a home with his modern take on organic soul music. James has released albums with Athens of the North and !K7, collaborated with Girls Of The Internet, Fink, Letherette, Daudi Matsiko, Will Saul, Flying Mojito Bros, and released 'Everything Is Slow' in 2023, an album with Groove Armada's Tom Findlay as "Bright & Findlay". His third solo album 'Cool Cool' was released in July 2024. Fresh from playing at Glastonbury, James is currently writing a new album, planned for release in 2026, and is also supporting and playing live with Girls Of The Internet on an extended UK tour through to December.
