You know at Athens of the North we're partial to digging up stupidly good slept-on records, and this is another of the peak.
This is a shorter single version of the stunning Chicago big-boy ballad by the band High Rise (who only released one very, very rare LP).
"My Baby's Gone," is a proper deep soul masterpiece, packed with floaty, synthy goodness. A must-have for deep soul crew, the lowrider scene, and anyone else who knows the score.
Written and recorded by Harry Malone and Tony Po in 1985, the LP never made much of a splash—but we're going to change that.
