A 2011 release by ERIC PORTER DOUGLASS, based at DEEPBLAK—run by AYBEE in OAKLAND—and AFRIKAN SCIENCES. With its experimentation with Afrobeat and polyrhythmic grooves drawn from the house scene, this album represents the cutting edge of modern electronic dance music—a genre that shares fundamental connections with artists like Flying Lotus from LA.
