Riding the wave of the disco boom—which even spawned a version by BONY M—here’s a modern update of “Margarida,” a cover of the Italian pop hit “Felicidade (Margherita)” by THE HARMONY CATS, a diverse five-piece group from São Paulo active in the ’70s and ’80s (sample1) and “Blaus” (sample3)—a funk cut-up track reminiscent of “ALTZ” featuring the mysterious bedroom producer MAFFALDA (aka ARTHUR GOMES)—make for an absolutely fantastic bonus 7-inch B-side! The main track also includes a re-edit of “A Gira” by the nationally beloved trio TRIO TERNURA, titled “Botoque” (sample2), as well as several collaborations between the veteran Swiss duo IN FLAGRANTI and Rio de Janeiro’s rising star FELIPE SA. It’s a collection of re-edits that’s fascinating as an introduction to Brazilian music via the Balearic sound. Highly recommended!
