Starting from rock and Americana, Haruomi Hosono—one of the most influential figures in Japanese music history for introducing synthesizers and experimental music into pop—leads the way, followed by YMO-related artists (I’m especially happy to see F.O.E.’s “In My Jungle” included), Hiroshi Sato, Taeko Onuki, Minako Yoshida, Yasuko Agawa, Hitomi Toyama, and others—artists who have been re-evaluated in recent years. The tracks have been curated from a DJ’s and modern music perspective, and the impeccable remastering work truly shines. I’ve added this to my collection. (Original Japanese text by Saito)
