An obscure 1989 boogie / early Detroit house cut, also reissued by DARK ENTRIES. A captivating record. Now reissued by INVISIBLE CITY EDITIONS as well!

A privately pressed 12" originally issued in tiny quantities by Shawn Pittman — a backing singer and dancer for Inner City, the most successful project of the dawn of techno soul and Detroit house — gets a reissue. Production comes from Art Forest, who is credited as a co-writer on Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson's legendary Kreem on Metroplex and on Inner City's worldwide hit "Big Fun," and who has worked alongside Eddie Fowlkes, Suburban Knight, Juan and Derrick May. The A-side is boogie, R&B, slow jam, pre-techno synthesizer production — a captivating sound, in two versions. It may seem casual at first, but the production, the dub work and the sound itself are wonderful, almost magical. The B-side features "I'm Losing Control," bridging freestyle and electro-funk into house, in its original version plus the proto-house synth funk / electro "Extended Bass-ment Club Mix." That Extended Bass-ment Club Mix is astonishingly cool as a dance track, and the vocal version is just as appealing. Highly recommended for anyone digging into early house, boogie or street soul. A rare case in which Dark Entries, deep in synthesizer music and underground culture, and Invisible City Editions, leaders in rare record excavation, both reissued the same record at the same time.
